Artist Statement

Investigating translucence, transparence, and optical play referencing within the Light and Space movement of the 1960/70’s Rachel Prince explores how these ideas may be integrated in contemporary art practice through installation and sculptural forms.

Her works use imagery of formations and patterns found in nature to directly respond to the space in which they are installed. Stemming from language of growth and decay, and what is precious yet temporal, creating site specific works, she aims to merge intricate microcosms with an awareness of what is natural yet artificial. Play and experimentation is an integral part of her research, using materials and pigments as the basis to resolve works.
